KNOWING OUR CHILDREN - EPISODE 3 (RAISING CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS)

KNOWING OUR CHILDREN – EPISODE 3

RAISING CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

"And God said, let us make man in our image and after our likeness and God created them, male and female." Within this divine context, scientific understanding enriches our perception of children with special needs. Research in genetics and neurology reveals the complexity behind these unique individuals, aligning with the biblical belief that we are created in God's image. God saw the unformed body of your special child before they were born, yes He did. You and your child look just like God. Scientifically, human development is a result of intricate genetic coding and environmental influences. Each individual, including those with special needs, carry a unique genetic blueprint, shaping their physical and cognitive characteristics. Know it today that your son or daughter is complete and whole just like God is.

The special needs of your child are a representation of an aspect of God, have you ever wondered and thought of the kind of world the blind, deaf, and dumb are in? That of the lame and blind, the world of the limbless, the world of the completely paralyzed individuals among us? Neuroscientific research has shown that various conditions like blindness, deafness, physical disabilities, and cognitive differences stem from diverse neural patterns. However, these conditions don't diminish a person's complete soul and spirit. Scripture agrees that despite these differences, all individuals possess an inherent dignity and worth. All of these complete and wholesome persons are in the very image of God. They have a complete soul and spirit. Among all the creations of God, it's only man that was created to look and act like God.

God has eyes but He sometimes depends on men to observe

God has legs but sometimes depends on men to move on His behalf

God has a fully functioning mouth but He sometimes depends on men to convey His thoughts

God has hands but entrusts His works into the hands of mere mortals. Through these, God teaches us the lesson of the interdependence of life.

This aligns with the understanding that while individuals may face physical limitations, their spirit and cognitive abilities remain intact.

Have you ever come across Psalm 146:16? Maybe yes, no or not really, whichever your answer may be, Psalm 146:16 acknowledges God's infinite wisdom in permitting lives on this earth, it is actually not by the will of a man and a woman only, oh yes! Life in itself begins with God, it is God's idea, and not man's.

Scientifically, it reflects the intricate design of life through genetic inheritance and environmental factors, influencing each person's unique characteristics, including those with special needs. The scientific understanding emphasizes that while some conditions might arise due to medical factors, God's overarching plan encompasses these variations. Genetics and medical research have shed light on the complexity of human development, highlighting the diversity within the human population. In fact, the Bible says it is God who determines when and where each person should be born and He calculates these in order for the individual to seek Him God and be found by Him. The form and likeness man is sent into the world contributes to his seeking and finding God.

I just want to assure you that, God makes no mistake in His dealings with men on this earth, remember He is Omniscient, He Knows all things at the same time, He knows the end from the very beginning and vice versa. He fulfills His projects before He launches them into play. Our God alone is wise. Special children are given by God, complete in their humanity, with distinctive personalities and God-given purposes. It is interesting to note that the talents and unique abilities of individuals with special needs have been widely recognized, contributing to the richness and diversity of human capabilities.

Do you have special needs as an individual?

Do you have a child with special needs?

Do you have a relative with special needs?

Are you taking care of someone’s special child?

Do you live with someone with a special child?

Do you work in a house or with a family with a special child?

Are you planning to start a family soon?

Have you met with any person with special needs before?

If you answered "Yes" to any of the above then please draw your seat a bit closer and let's talk. I trust you agree God makes no mistake in giving gifts to His children as a righteous Father. Oh yes! I know you have lots of “why?” questions for God on these issues, I understand, interestingly enough, I do too. But I have been helped by God in a number of ways I want to share with you.

Special children are given by God, not the devil, he cannot.

Special children are loved by God

They are complete human beings

They aren’t as a result of your sinful past - God deals with them for who they are.

Each of them has a personality

Each of them has a God-given purpose to fulfill here on earth

They are some of the most gifted and talented people on planet Earth

They are not spirits that have found their way into the abode of families

One of the reasons God gives us special children is to teach us patience and humility. Scientifically, the challenges and joys of raising children with special needs can enhance our understanding of human empathy and resilience. While certain conditions might be a result of medical negligence, the scientific understanding doesn't diminish the intrinsic value and purpose of each life.

In conclusion, integrating scientific insights into the biblical context emphasizes the profound nature of children with special needs, highlighting their unique characteristics, intrinsic worth, and the diverse ways they contribute to the richness of the human experience. So take another look at the gift of God in your care and embrace your care for him or her as service to God, do it more relational and cheerful from today and know that as you do for them, you do for God. May you recia commendation on the day of reckoning, not a rebuke. God bless you.
