A TRIP THROUGH THE DESERT (EPISODE
2)– THE REALITIES BECOME EVIDENT
Thank you for coming along with me on the lifelong lessons I
gleaned from my journey with Brother Moses through his second book which serves
as a great transition between the fulfillment of a generational prophecy about
God’s chosen nation and how it unfolded over a period of 40 years. In the next
lap of the trip, you are going to appreciate the reasons behind some of the
acts of God as The Holy Spirit helped me identify. Are you chosen and loved by
God? Will you suffer hard times? Will they bring you to an expected end? Come
with me.
In this life, God has a role to play in our lives: some of
which we are in the position to permit or refuse Him and the yielding consequence
is all ours to claim. There are other things in our lives too that God decides
by His infinite wisdom how they should unfold, ultimately to our benefit,
drawing us to Himself. As you plough through these observations and lessons, I trust
God to help you sort out the things that relate to your current walk with Him. Please
remember to keep some water next to you, for the 11th to the 20th
mile in the desert is dehydrating – don’t be part of those who pushed Brother Moo
to the wall.
EXODUS 11
1. God is able to make our enemies favorably disposed to us
if we align our ways to His path according to His dictates - God asked the
Israelites to request silver and gold from the Egyptians, those who oppressed
them.
2. God has control over the decisions of men and He uses it
to reveal His Glory - God hardened Pharaoh's heart so that He can show His
mighty acts of Deliverance.
EXODUS 12
1.God always have plans to save us from harm but we also
have a part to play, which if we don't, we miss out on His purposes for our
lives - God asked the Israelites to adhere to instructions regarding the Passover.
EXODUS 13
1. God instituted the consecration of the first borns for
the Israelites because He spared theirs when He plagued those of the Egyptians
with death so that they will remember how He delivered them.
2. When God leads anyone in this earthy walk, you are sure
of safety and even if battles emerge you are confident to emerge victorious -
God didn't lead the Israelites from Egypt through Philistine, preventing them
from war prematurely.
EXODUS 14
1. When we walk faithfully with God, our default reaction of
fear to unpleasant situations and news turns to boldness out of our trust in
what God has done before and what He is capable of doing for us today. And this
helps us approach each day with confidence in God - Moses assured the
Israelites of God's deliverance against the armies of Pharaoh though God hadn't
told him what He will do about the emerging problem at the time.
2. The popular assurance of deliverance to the Israelites,
"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still", was Moses'
Declarative Faith, not God's, but God carried it out excellently. Truly, what
we declare from faith in God, He is able to do for His Glory.
3. The sea wasn't divided into two halves suddenly when
Moses lifted his staff over it, rather, it took all that night for an east wind
sent by God to drive the sea back - sometimes God acts in a way we would see
His supernatural power manifested in our natural world, changing the natural
order for us to know it’s just must be an act of God. Though He could just
raise the waters as walls on the left and right in a second, He chose not to.
God doesn't do magic; He makes room for reasoning too.
4. For the first time in God's acts of judgment against
Egypt, He took the action Himself without informing or asking Moses to do
anything - Vs24 "During the last watch of the night The Lord looked down
from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into
confusion. In Verse 25, He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had
difficulty driving..." - This tells us that at various times in our lives,
God takes steps to help, deliver and rescue us from harm that we don't get to
know about or hear of until it is made known to us. So, we must continuously
trust God even when we don't receive anything from long Prayers with fasting.
EXODUS 15
1. The Spirit of God through the song Moses led the
Israelites to sing from Vs 12 to 17 predicted the acts God was about to perform
in their midst, even things some of them were about to suffer out of their disobedience
(vs12), so interesting, take a read.
2. It is interesting to note that God did not deliver the
Israelites from Pharaoh and the Egyptians only by His mighty arm but also
BOUGHT them - Vs 16 "...until the people you bought pass by". This
was a shadow of the future purchase of mankind from Sin and death by the
precious blood of Christ Jesus. Glory be to God!
3. The Bible describes Miriam, Moses and Aaron's sister as a
Prophet. This tells us she also had a role to play in God's general scheme to
deliver the Israelites; in fact, it was her brevity and wisdom, following after
Jochebed's determination that contributed to the rescue of baby Moses from the
Nile.
4. God's decision to put the Israelites to the test was
immediately after they grumbled against Moses for lack of drinking water. God
hates grumbling either directly against Him or indirectly through His servants
in His service. Who are you grumbling against in the challenges of your life?
EXODUS 16
1. When God takes responsibility to take care of you, He
provides all you need as you journey with Him - God supplied food for the
Israelites from no known source to them - So do not fret when nothing around
gives you assurance of salvation, only trust in God and that is enough.
2. God's acts are always in support of His words and
instructions, so, you enjoy the fullness of God if you adhere to every detail
of His Word - God made the manna go bad the next day in exception of what they
gathered for the sabbath day, that's so wonderful.
3. It was the Israelites that named the bread God gave
"manna".
EXODUS 17
1. The first Nation to fight against the Israelites is the
Amalekites and even after their defeat, God vowed to utterly blot out their
name under heaven - We must choose our battles right, fight only battles The
Lord is fighting, else you end up having The Lord fighting against you
endlessly. Who are you fighting?
EXODUS 18
1. Moses, though a very great leader and mighty through his
service to God, yet, was humble enough to recognize the presence of his
father-in-law and accorded him full respect even though he wasn't “a worshipper
of God”. - No matter your rank in Life, honoring those ahead of you is still non-negotiable.
2. God doesn't tell us everything we need to know
mysteriously from Heaven or through supernatural revelations. He also
communicates with us through unbelievers - Though God spoke with Moses’ face to
face, as a man speaks with his friend, He didn't pass such information on to
Moses but used Jethro and God confirmed it when Moses verified.
EXODUS 19
1. Before God declared the nation Israel as His treasured
possession, He sought the consent of the Leadership of the people and they
confirmed to obey Him fully and keep His covenant. - It takes God and man for
any covenant to be established, there is always a mutual consent.
2. God did a beautiful thing in endorsing and leadership of
Moses before all the Israelites so they will trust in him as one whom God
speaks with and through, to the them; God descended in a cloud form before all
Israel and they heard Him speak with Moses.
3. Lawful sexual relations can sometimes distract an
individual from engaging God on special occasions in seeking His face.
4. God endorsed Aaron's assistantship to Moses when He sent
Moses to go bring him up the mountain before all Israel. This was a sign for
the Israelites to trust in Aaron's leadership too. - As a servant of God, there
must be a sign from God to confirm His call on your life especially to those He
has called you to lead.
EXODUS 20
1. Our walk with God is based on His terms.
2. One of the requirements for long life is obedience and
honor to the elderly, beginning with your parents.
3. God has appeared to men in thick darkness before, don't
be quick to ascribe everything dark to evil.
