A TRIP THROUGH THE
DESERT – HAS HE SAID AND WILL HE NOT DO IT?
Does God really know the end from the beginning and the
beginning from the end? Is He really the Omniscient God? Does He take counsel
from any man before He acts? Who sits in counsel with Him, who teaches Him to
do right? His creation? Did you answer “No one” to all the above? What then is
the role of intercessory prayer? In intercession, we discern the will of God
concerning a thing and commit ourselves to earnest prayer to bring them into
fulfillment – Anna & Simon’s role in the birth of Christ Jesus - not a long
tiring prayer and fasting for God to change His mind on a matter. No! You cannot
teach God to be wise nor tell Him what to do here on earth. Did God say to
Moses ‘Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may
destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation?” Did Moses try to
persuade Him out of that decision? Did Moses succeed in preventing Him? How
many people above age 20 actually were alive when the Israelites entered the
Promised Land? Did Moses stand a chance of entering the Promised land before
dying? What caused him the denial? What kind of intercession are you engaged in
today? It is my desire that as you go through the final lap of this trip, you
will at least take along one lesson from the life of that great man of God by
name Moses, who knew God face to face and yet was denied access to Canaan. God
bless you.
EXODUS 31
1. Some physical skills of work can be spiritually impacted
by God. Don't make little the skill of men, they are needed for holistic
worship. (verses1-6)
2. It is God who makes us holy. It is He who qualifies you
to be holy. (Verse 13)
3. The first tablets of the covenant law was inscribed by
God Himself. (Verse 18)
EXODUS 32
1. Aaron, the second in command, led the Israelites to
depart from the newly confirmed covenant with God by molding a calf idol and
building an altar for the people. (Verses 1-5)
2. The Israelite sons also had earrings as their daughters
also had. (Verse 2)
3. God intended to destroy the Israelites for what they did
but Moses was only able to delay the act of punishment by his plea but finally
He brought a plague on the people, though the Bible doesn't mention what it
was. (verses9-14, 34-35)
4. Moses held Aaron responsible for the sin of the
Israelites. This was because he left them in his care. (Verse 21) – who and what
has been left in your care?
5. The Levites killed about 3000 Israelites for this act of sin with the sword: this was one of the means of God punishing the Israelites. (Verse 27-28)
EXODUS 33
1. God mentioned to Moses and the Israelites He wouldn't go
with them because they were stiff-necked, else, He might destroy them but Moses
pleaded to have Him go with them. (Verse 3-5) – what really happened at the end
of the trip?
2. God spoke with Moses face to face in communication, as
one speaks to a friend. (Verse 11)
3. Joshua had been following Moses in many of his encounters
with God, no doubt he succeeded Moses (Verse 11)
4. Moses requested to see God's glory, God granted but did
not only allow Moses to see His glorified face, but His back. (Verse 18-20)
EXODUS 34
1. Both the stones and the writings of the first set of
tablets were prepared by God Himself but the stone of the second set was
chiseled by Moses and the writing made by God – both weren’t the same
(verse1-4)
2. Moses' face shone when he returned from Mount. Sinai with
the tablets and this continued anytime he went into God's presence. The glory
of God was evident on his face. (Verse 29-35).
EXODUS 36
1. The Israelites brought more offerings for the sanctuary
than what was actually needed until they were asked not to bring any more. (Verses
3-7)
2. The items for the tabernacle were all made by skilled men
– none was made by a miracle; God gave you a skill and He must benefit from it.
(Verse 1,4,8)
EXODUS 37
1. There were some of the Tabernacle items that were made by
Bezalel alone and others were jointly made. He made the ark while the table,
lampstand and Altar of incense were jointly made by the skilled workers. (Verses
1,2,10,17 & 25)
EXODUS 38
1. Bezalel was the grandson of Hur, the man from the tribe
of Judah who helped Aaron support the lifted staff in the hands of Moses when
Israel fought against the Amalekites. (Verse 22)
EXODUS 39
1. The Israelites did all the work just as The Lord had
commanded Moses. Moses inspected the work and saw that they had done it just as
The Lord had commanded. So, Moses blessed them. Therefore, it is very possible
for God to get things done here on earth through willing and obedient servants
and people. (Verses 42&43).
EXODUS 40
1. None of the Tabernacle items was conjured from the sky,
they were all earthly materials used to replicate the heavenly things.
2. The cloud served as a sign of God's direction for the
Israelites in their journey to the promised land: it indicated both the time to
move and the direction to take. Despite their stubbornness, God never failed to
lead them to their destination. (Verses 36-37)
Thank you so much for coming with me through this trip of lessons and observations. I trust that God will make you a blessing this year even as you glorify Him with the very life Life He has gifted you.
