A TRIP THROUGH THE DESERT (EPISODE 3) – THE GOD OF LAWS

A TRIP THROUGH THE DESERT (EPISODE 3) – THE GOD OF LAWS

God will always provide rules for the relationship He establishes with men. Our relationship with Him is based on His terms because we are His offspring. No one will want to be told how to handle a product they have manufactured but will want to engage it for the purpose for which it was made. So why do you want to live in God's earth and do your bidding only? Please be reminded that THE EARTH IS THE LORD’S AND THE FULLNESS THEREOF, THE WORLD AND THEY THAT DWELL THEREIN. Selah!

The journey of God's chosen people continues even as He teaches them various lessons that will forever guide their walk with Him. Its a little dusty today so please be well covered. See you at the other side.

EXODUS 21

1. Every human society needs a set of regulations to keep the environment orderly. The laws of God to the Israelites was targeted at responsibility and discipline in the community.

EXODUS 22

1. God is very interested in how we treat the less privileged in our society; the stranger, widow and fatherless. If we mistreat them, God has promised to take our lives. Most of what we do as individuals have far reaching consequences beyond us so we must be very mindful of our actions.

2. God abhorred bestiality (unnatural sexual relations with animals) from ancient times.

3. If you lend money to a fellow believer in need, God says do not take interest. We are not to treat believers in need with Profit motives as we do with business.

EXODUS 23

1. Just as God is passionate about protecting the vulnerable in our societies, He also is critical about the administration of Justice: show no favoritism to the poor in a lawsuit, just because they are poor, else you break the rule. In the same manner, do not favor the rich against the poor. (Verse 3)

2. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the innocent. The receiver of the benefit is the one who knows what Bribery is. (Verse 8)

3. God has responsibility over all life on earth, including the tiniest insect. We must be intentional about being benevolent to fellow men and even show kindness to animals because by so doing, we allow God to provide for them through us. (verses10-12)

4. The Israelites had an Angel sent from God to lead and guard them through their sojourn to the promised land. This angel was in communication with Moses and the leadership of the people all through till they arrived in Canaan. God sends His angels to lead and guard us when we accept God's call upon our lives and come along with Him. (Verses 20-23).

5. God exercises His power and authority with great wisdom always to our benefit - He chose to drive out the occupants of the land gradually so wild animals do not overtake the land. God works through a number of ways to bless us; we murmur and err because we do not understand His ways. (Verses 29-30).

EXODUS 24

1. The terms of God's covenant with the Israelites from chapters 20 to 23 were written by Moses in a book ahead of the encounter on Mount Sinai for the tablets of stone. These were recorded differently from the ten on the carved stone. (Verses 4&7)

2. It is generally said that no one can see God and live but here, we see it explicitly stated that Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and the seventy Elders of the Israelites went up to the mountain and saw God but He did not raise his hand against them, they saw God and they ate and drank. God granted this for the rest of the Leadership of the Israelites to have an encounter with the God Moses represents and often talks about. How deep is your longing to know God? (Verses 9-11)

3. This was the first time we were introduced to Joshua as Moses' aide. (Verse 13)

4. In the leadership hierarchy of the Israelites Hur, whom we do not often hear about seconded Aaron in the absence of Moses. (Verse 14)

EXODUS 25

1. God requested offerings from the Israelites but only from those whose heart prompted them to give. The God who created them did not coerce them to give for His purpose though it was for their own good. So do not give in to any man who tries to lure you with sweet words assuming a prophetic posture, to push you to give an offering you are not convicted to give. That man is not wiser than God. (Verse 2)

2. The various items God asked Moses to make were all to be made according to an already existing design which God showed Moses on the mountain. (Verses 10-40)

EXODUS 26

1. Aside the fact that God requested various materials from His people for the manufacturing of the items for the Tabernacle, I see God teach the Israelites another lesson of self-dependence by making their workers engage in the crafting of the items. (Verse 1)

2. God always has a detailed plan for whatever He does which He works towards. Ask Him and He will show you. (Verse 30)

EXODUS 27

1. For the need to keep the lambs continually burning before The Lord, God asked Moses to command the Israelites to bring clear oil of pressed olives. (Verse 20)

EXODUS 28

1. In the administration of God's purposes on earth, some roles can only be played by people of physical skill, without which God's mighty agenda cannot be realized. God is not only raising men with spiritual manifestations but also men with great skill. (Verses 3-5,15)

2. God doesn't take remembrance lightly. What do you consistently bring before The Lord. (verse29)

EXODUS 29

1. Certain callings are for families while others are called as individuals to accomplish God's purposes. Aaron and his four sons were called to be Priests of God in perpetuity from generation to generation. God didn't engage any of Moses' sons. (Verse 4-9)

EXODUS 30

1. God recognized an Israelite of 20 years of age as an adult. (Verse 14)

2. There are certain things that are reserved only for God and His instruction. (Verse 32-33, 37-38)

Thank you once again for coming with me. Hopefully we wrap up on all that God intended to teach the nation of Israel wile on their road to Canaan. Has God given you a promise? That is sound like a low-lying fruit? Don’t forget the promise of a land flowing with milk and honey and what it took for the God’s people to inherit it. God bless you.
